Shipping Birds
Here at Kramer Bird Farm we ship birds almost every week during the course of the year. Rarely is there ever an issue when doing so. It is our belief that there is always a risk involved in shipping. Birds handle stress differently and sometimes one will die during transit. While unfortunate and a terrible loss, it is viewed as part of the risk that is involved in the shipping process.
Our Guarantee
Since there are too many variables outside of our control when shipping birds, we guarantee to place the birds that are ordered in the approved shipping box. When the birds go into the box they will be alive and well. Once they are boxed up and delivered to the post office everything else is out of our control. Therefore, if something were to happen during transit we will not be held liable or responsible for replacing the birds or refunding money spent.
Returns
Occasionally, there are those times when something happens during transit and the birds are the type that they still hold value of some sort. Ex. A brightly colored male pheasant, This bird could still be of value for his feathers in the fly fishing market. In these instances we will be glad to take birds back and try to get as much of your money back as we can for you. In order for this to happen the bird would need to be placed in a trash bag and froze. On the next available Monday the frozen birds need to be wrapped in some sort of insulating material, boxed and priority mailed back to us.
To Recap
We guarantee nothing other than putting live birds in the box and taking them to the post office to ship. The rest is out of our control. If the bird was alive and well in my pen when I caught it to ship it seems logical that if not for shipping the bird would still be alright.
We ship a lot of birds out and have birds shipped in on occasion. From September - April we ship almost every week. With all of this, there is rarely ever an issue. This is not intended to scare anyone away from shipping birds, but rather show that there is a risk involved in shipping live animals.
